2021: Success Highlights

As we welcome the year 2022, we want to take a look back at the significant progress General Assembly Malaysia has made in the past year. We would like to share how far we have come along in our journey to advocate for lifelong learning and in helping individuals achieve rewarding careers. Let’s take a look at some highlights of our success in 2021.

Our consumers

In 2021, our admissions team spoke to over 11,000 consumers nationwide. This number is a reflection of the effects of rapid digitalisation as a result of the ongoing pandemic. Individuals and organisations are recognising the need to be equipped with digital skills. There has been a continuously rising demand for fresh graduates as well as talent currently in the workforce to add on digital skills, like analytics and programming, among others, to their repertoire.

At General Assembly, we’re proud to have assisted these individuals in identifying the skills they would need to strive in the digital age. Over the course of this year–and in the coming years–we aim to elevate the number of consumers we can reach out and speak to in order to help them achieve their career goals.

Our learners

The number of learners we’ve trained  in 2021 is four times the number of the previous year. As a pioneer of education and career transformation, our goal is to help  individuals to upskill or reskill so that they could embark on a rewarding career journey.

Our learners come from a variety of backgrounds and we are proud to have helped each and every one of them to pursue careers they love–individuals, organisations, as well as learners from our partnership efforts such as MySTEP and PENJANA KPT-CAP.

In 2021, we organised more than 30 virtual workshops and webinars to give individuals a look into the GA learning experience.

Our graduates

In the last year, 97% of our graduates managed to secure a job within 6 months of graduating. When it comes to our learners, their experience with us goes beyond picking up new digital skills. Through our professional skills classes, we aim to help our learners achieve rewarding careers where they could apply their newfound expertise in digital marketing, data, design, coding and product management.

Our professional skills programme help our learners to identify their personal branding, methods to leverage their CVs, as well as key ways to improve their business communication skills. Beyond that, our learners receive curated placement support from dedicated career coaches in every step of their journey to jumpstart their careers. In 2022, we hope to increase this percentage so that more of our graduates could pursue work they love.

Our instructors

Within the last year, we’ve had over 100 expert Malaysian instructors in our talent pool. At GA, we’re always enthusiastic to collaborate with digital industry experts in the collective effort to drive digital transformation. Our instructors come from diverse professional and personal backgrounds and are located all over the nation, each bringing their own specialty and expertise into the GA curriculum. In 2022, we aim to grow our talent pool and incorporate them into the array of courses we will run throughout the year.

In the GA learning experience, our instructors play a large part in our learners’ success. Whether they are in the instructional or teaching assistant role, we aim to have each of our GA team member impart the best of their knowledge to our learners.
